Free membership of the PDA until 31st October![]() Now that you have earned your professional qualifications you will begin
to enjoy the benefits of being recognised by society as a fully qualified
healthcare professional. With your new position will also come the added responsibility that your role as a pharmacist will require you to carry. The PDA is pleased to be able to support you in coming to terms with your new responsibilities. There's strength in numbers...In this increasingly litigious day and age this responsibility may well mean that a civil claim in compensation is made against you should you make a mistake whilst at work. It is for this reason that your professional indemnity insurance becomes an important support to your pharmacy practice and is even more relevant because of your newly qualified status. In addition to this, pharmacists are becoming increasingly vulnerable to disputes with their employer and one in eight pharmacists are subjected to the RPSGB's disciplinary machinery. Don't face problems aloneTo enable you to commence your career with minimum anxiety, we provide newly qualified pharmacists with free membership of the PDA to help you find your feet, knowing that you have the support of an organisation independent of your employer that is intent on protecting and defending your reputation. Membership is extended from the 1st July until 31st October, and includes Professional Indemnity and Legal Defence Costs Insurance at no cost to you. You will be able to work with added peace of mind and will also have access to support from the PDA at a time in your career when this will probably be most needed. We will not be able to activate your insurance until you have informed us of your RPSGB registration number, but if you do not have it just yet, don't let it stop you registering with us as we can add this information when you have it. We wish you the very best of luck in your future career as a pharmacist. Look out for the communication of our offer starting from 1st November which entitles you to reduced membership for the following twelve months. The importance of professional indemnity insurance...Pharmacists are now required by the Code of Ethics to ensure that they are always working with the protection of Professional Indemnity insurance. To understand why as a pharmacist you need to work with the protection of your own independent insurance you need to consider the conflicts that can emerge between an employee and an employer. These conflicts can occur at any time and the sources of conflict can be many and varied. Understanding them has already led many thousands of individual pharmacists to take out their own independent insurance protection. The Pharmacists' Defence Association is not linked in any way to the NHS, employers or to employer representative organisations. It therefore has no conflicts of interest and can always ensure that it keeps your interests at the core of its activities. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTINUING
