The Responsible Pharmacist; are you ready?

Your views are important in furthering the work of the PDA.

It is intended that the new Responsible Pharmacist regulations become live on 1st October 2009, from that date any pharmacist who signs up as the Responsible Pharmacist will have new legal and professional responsibilities and will have statutory responsibility for the safe and effective running of the entire pharmacy (in so far as it related to medicines). The PDA would like to find out how prepared our members believe they are to take on this new responsibility. In order for us to take any action (if necessary) then we will need to rely on what our members are telling us.

10) As regards the regulations and your preparedness to commence the new responsibilities, which statement best describe your thoughts;

I am satisfied with the content of the regulations as currently written and confident that I will be ready to take on this new responsibility as currently stated on October 1st 2009.

I am satisfied with the content of these regulations as currently written but I do not feel that the start date of October 1st 2009 will leave me sufficient time to be able to prepare and I would prefer for the commencement of these regulations to be delayed.

I am not satisfied with the content of the regulations as currently written as I feel that they are flawed in some way, so there needs to be a delay to allow for these issues to be resolved and for time to prepare for their commencement thereafter.

11) As regards the debate within the profession on this subject and its overall preparations for the commencement of the regulations, which statement best describes your thoughts;

I believe that overall this debate has been developed over a satisfactory time frame and that sufficient information has been disseminated so that the profession will be generally ready to take on these new responsibilities on October 1st 2009.
