Launch of the PDA Fighting Fund for the decriminalisation of dispensing errors

The PDA has launched a fighting fund to help secure these objectives and we appeal to all pharmacists to contribute to this campaign.

08-MAY-09

The PDA has been working intensively to develop a strategy to deliver three primary objectives;

  1. To overturn the conviction of Elizabeth Lee.
  2. To call upon the RPSGB not to take any disciplinary action against her.
  3. To ensure that no pharmacist will ever have to face criminal prosecution in the future for making a genuine mistake in the workplace.

The first two objectives are already receiving significant attention from the PDA and details of any developments will be revealed as soon as they become available. The third objective is involving substantial effort and planning for a broad campaign to influence government policy makers. The aim is to make them understand that criminal sanctions are simply not appropriate for genuine dispensing errors. This effort has already commenced and much behind the scenes work has been done. It is apparent that if we are to succeed, the campaign will require substantial co-ordination and funding.

As a consequence, the PDA has launched a fighting fund to help secure these objectives and we appeal to all pharmacists to contribute funds to this campaign.
