Improved benefits and services for members

Improved Insurance Arrangements

The PDA have been in negations with their underwriters and have agreed improved benefits for members. From August 1st 2005 PDA members who take a break in their professional career (and insurance provision), for example to go on maternity leave or undertake a career break, will be covered free of charge for any incidents that arise before they stopped working. The same provision also applies to pharmacists who retire.

Pharmacists should remember that it is a personal professional responsibility to ensure that when providing professional services, they are covered by active professional indemnity insurance.

Longer opening hours

Due to growing demand for our services we are increasing the hours that our office provides professional pharmacist support. With effect from September 1st 2005 our office-based pharmacist team will be available from 8:30am through to 6:00pm during the week to respond to your professional, employment or ethical matters. Response to out of hours queries remains the same via the telephone help line.

Increased pharmacist support

As well as improved opening hours we have also increased the number of pharmacists available to respond to member queries. To support the work of the PDA the advisory board has expanded the number of pharmacist members to reflect the needs of the membership.
