This booklet gives examples of employment contract clauses that
pharmacists and pre-registration graduates should avoid to ensure
that they are not disadvantaged in the event of a dispute with
their employer.
It is advisable, to limit any doubt or ambiguity between two parties,
that Locums have a written contract for services when agreeing an assignment,
either for a specific period of time, or on an ongoing basis.
This publication is a draft agreement that meets the criteria
of the Inland Revenue and provides a Locum with a balanced proposed
contract to enter into negotiations with the employer.
The absence of such an agreement or the exclusive imposition of the employers'
terms may put the locum at a disadvantage.
In 2009 we handled nearly 3000 queries of which over a fifth involved
locum contract disputes. As such incidents are becoming more frequent, we
have responded to our members' wishes by producing this guide to clarify
your rights and to set realistic expectations in remedying any dispute or
professional dilemma.
