The Pharmacy Show: 17 – 18 October 2021

The Pharmacy Show takes place over two days at the NEC in Birmingham and is a major gathering for pharmacy professionals. The show is made up of education and networking opportunities. The PDA is running two sessions at the Pharmacy Show this year; 'Women in Pharmacy' and 'Delivering race equality in Pharmacy'.

Thorrun Govind

Chair of the English Pharmacy Board

The current Chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, English Pharmacy Board, Thorrun is a pharmacist with a strong media presence. Thorrun studied at King’s College London, and completed her pre-registration training at Manor Pharmacy in Newark-on-Trent.

Thorrun has experience in a range of media organisations including the BBC, both in radio and television. Thorrun has utilised local and national media to promote pharmacy, including stints as the resident pharmacist at BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio London and appearances on BBC Newsnight and the Victoria Derbyshire Show. Thorrun has also interned in Parliament.

Thorrun uses social media to advocate for the profession and is a prolific tweeter, find her at @pharmthorrun. In 2018 Thorrun was nominated by her MP for the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards – Healthier Communities Award for her advocacy. In 2018 Thorrun completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and in 2019 an LPC MSc in Law, Business and Management.

Bharat Nathwani

Policy Officer at the PDA

Bharat’s current role is a Policy Officer at the Pharmacists’ Defence Association. Bharat’s previous experience includes being elected to the first reconfigured Council at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain following the grant of the Supplemental Royal Charter in 2004. Bharat has been a member of the Advisory Board of the PDA and was the first elected treasurer of the PDA Union.
