Thu 23rd May 2019

We are working hard but are we working smart?

Recent years have seen a number of changes for pharmacy services in Wales as part of the implementation of A Healthier Wales. Increasing numbers of pharmacists are working within general practice, community pharmacy care is being transformed with the use of the Choose Pharmacy application and pharmacists are providing significant support to NHS 111 Wales. So how are these innovations progressing and will they go far enough and fast enough?

We know that the pressure on the NHS is at breaking point, and we believe that it’s time to champion how the unique skills of pharmacists around the safety of medicines and the development of pharmaceutical care can be better deployed for the benefit of patients, taxpayers and the profession.

Can we as a sector afford to sit back and wait to see how things pan out, or should we be looking to forge ahead and seize new opportunities? What opportunities are available to us?

We invite you to join us on Thursday 23rd May at the Vale Resort, Glamorgan to hear from leaders, innovators and experts in the field, to discover what is really going on to improve and advance the delivery of patient care in Wales. Join us to discuss the barriers that need to be overcome to help the sector work better together.

Tickets are FREE to healthcare professionals and the conference is open to members and non-members alike. Our aim is to have as many interested professionals take part as possible to ensure that we capture the diverse and representative views within the profession. We have state of the art technology to enable everyone to contribute their thoughts and opinions to the discussions and polls on the day. A follow-up report stemming from the day will be offered to all delegates that wish to receive it.

The Pharmacists’ Defence Association are committed to connecting with members across the country. To achieve this, we have partnered with Medcomm to hold conferences in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland in 2019, the conferences take place on the same day as the Pharmacy Awards.
