During the webinar, four current trainee pharmacists shared their personal experiences of ranking programmes, revising for the Situation Judgement Test (SJT) and numeracy test, and travelling to Pearson Vue assessment centres to sit the exam.
There was a high demand for this webinar and it reflected the importance of the National Recruitment Scheme. The PDA was thankful to the four trainee members who made themselves available during the webinar to offer a helping hand to fourth-year pharmacy students. They also shared some of their insights into the Oriel process.
A PDA member from Aston University said, “The PDA’s Oriel webinar provided an excellent insight into the whole foundation recruitment process. It enabled us to understand factors that are crucial when preferencing placement places such as distance, salary, and environment.”
Another PDA member from Robert Gordon University said, “The webinar was very helpful it’s really put me at ease regarding the oriel process. More of these in the future would be a great help for students.”
PDA student sessions are free for PDA members and are designed to offer peer to peer support throughout members’ journeys to becoming fully qualified pharmacists.
Hannah Baker, PDA Trainee Organiser said, “The success of events like these, that centre around personal experiences, proves how valuable it is to be part of a PDA network of students and trainees who support each other.”
PDA student members who were unable to attend the webinar but are interested in the advice discussed at the online event are encouraged to email students@the-pda.org.
The PDA wishes all fourth-year pharmacy students in England, Wales and Scotland good luck with their National Recruitment Scheme tests and in finding their placements for next year! If PDA student members know any pharmacy students that have not yet joined the PDA, they should encourage them to do so. PDA membership is FREE for pharmacy students and trainee pharmacists.
The PDA is here to support members at every stage of their careers. For further support and advice, contact the PDA Member Support Centre.
