Samina Bibi (Primary Care, Community & Hospital Locum, Manchester)

My current role consists of locuming in hospital and the community sector, as well as primary care  clinical pharmacist.

This places me in an ideal position to understand challenges and opportunities faced by pharmacists in their workplaces and improve ways in which positive change can be implemented.

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to be part of the PDA Union, working with the union and be in a position where I can influence the pharmacy agenda nationally and provide support to pharmacists.“

Richard Hutton (Locum/Consultant Pharmacist, North England)

Chair of the North Regional Committee & North Region Representative on the National Executive Committee

“I started my career in Pharmacy many years ago, initially as proprietor of a chain of Pharmacies which I built up over the next twenty years. Upon disposal of these I moved into sales and marketing in the Pharmacy wholesale sector.

I then progressed to a portfolio of jobs including lecturing in further education, provision of locum services to community and prison pharmacy and some consultancy work.

I have also worked for several years in the financial services industry and been engaged in public service both serving as a magistrate and a member of the I.M.B. (Home Office).”

Katy Parsons (Community Pharmacist, North Yorkshire)

“After a brief spell in hospital when I first qualified, I’ve since worked as a pharmacist for an independent community pharmacy. It’s important that all voices are heard and listened to in the PDA and I want to make sure the PDA are fully informed of the concerns and problems of all pharmacists. I’ve worked with the PDA before during my time on the BPSA Executive and know how they value students, pre-registration pharmacists and pharmacists in all areas where we practice.”

David Rawlinson (Community Pharmacist, Cumbria)

“I’ve been a community pharmacist since registering in 2002, I joined the PDA initially for indemnity insurance when I started locuming in 2007 and later this provided union membership too. From both locuming and in permanent positions I have experienced most aspects of community pharmacy from the big multiples and supermarket pharmacies to small family run chains and single independents.

When the opportunity to contribute to the PDA Union arose, it was something that I really wanted to do as I had seen incidences of unfair treatment and increasing workplace pressures.”

Louise Ryan (Hospital Pharmacist, Leeds)

“I am an antimicrobial pharmacist at a large teaching hospital. I also work an occasional locum shift in the community. I have been involved with the PDA Union since university as I believe the services on offer cannot be matched by other organisations. “
