PDA Chairman Mark Koziol has written to the pharmacy superintendents at Asda, Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy, Morrisons, Rowlands, Superdrug, Tesco and Well formally inviting them to act upon reports of safety levels in their pharmacies.
Further analysis of the 2021 Safer Pharmacies Survey, has shown that survey respondents believe that that pharmacies operated by members of the Company Chemists Association are regularly failing to meet basic safety standards.
CCA member operated pharmacies were reported as being worse than an already worrying average against each one of the seven Safer Pharmacies Charter commitments.
The letter invites the pharmacy multiples to work collaboratively for the benefit of patients, profession, and sector by paying attention to the lived experience of the pharmacist workforce, adopting the Safer Pharmacies Charter, and working collaboratively with the PDA to deliver environments that are safer for patients and staff alike.
