Our regional committees bring members from a particular geographical area together and their sector groups connect members from parts of the profession: hospital, locum, community and primary care. However, we recognise that it is often other characteristics that can bring groups of pharmacists together.
PDA member networks began with our student members and we encourage members at each pharmacy school to have a student representative who can be part of the national network. The views of student members and the issues of concern to them are of importance both because they are the profession of tomorrow and because they already matter today. We defend the reputation and represent the interests of pharmacy students as well as helping them develop into health professionals and trade unionists.
In January 2020, the National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP) started it’s 115th year of enabling all women pharmacists to realise their full potential and raise their profile by being educationally, socially and politically active by becoming part of the PDA and NAWP became our first Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) network.
In April 2020 we launched three further networks: the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic Pharmacists Network (BAME Network), Disabled Pharmacists Network (Ability Network) and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pharmacists Network (LGBT+ Network).
We encourage all PDA members to get involved in the networks that are of interest to them.
PDA members can join one of our networks for £10 per year, retired members for £20 per year and non-PDA members for £30 per year. In accordance with PDA’s support for future pharmacists, membership of our networks is FREE for PDA student and trainee members (PDA student and trainee membership is also FREE).
