PDA Student Reps

Find out how you can become a PDA student rep today!

What is the role of a PDA Student Representative?

The PDA recognise and value our student reps. The role involves sharing information and feeding back on student issues and concerns, including from your peers so that we can lobby on your behalf, communicate with you, issue relevant guidance and support, and where appropriate, campaign for you and with you.  This voluntary role is vital to the work of the PDA and will help ensure that more pharmacy students are aware of who the PDA are, what we do, what support and advice is available to students when they join the PDA FREE , and how members can get involved.

Together we can:

The time commitment for this role is flexible – you may choose how much time you are able to give to this role. Our events are usually daytime events but may include infrequent evenings and/or weekends. Hours will vary depending on the activity, for example, careers fairs may be up to 6 hours, sharing a tweet can take just a few minutes and workshops are usually 2 hours. We understand you might only be available for part of this time depending on your timetable.

The student rep role includes:

  • Supporting PDA Regional Officials and other PDA colleagues with careers fayres and teaching workshops at your School of Pharmacy.
  • Promoting PDA Free membership for Student Pharmacists and asking your fellow students to join.
  • Giving a short 3 slide presentation (provided) about the PDA at the beginning of your lectures, when appropriate and with permission of your lecturer.
  • Keeping up to date with the PDA Latest news on our website and on our social media pages (please find the links at the bottom right of this page) and share them with other students through your networks.
  • Learning more about the work of the PDA and the PDA Union so that you may pass this information on to other pharmacy students.
  • Creating an email, online, social media or WhatsApp network of PDA student members at your School of Pharmacy to share information with them and to ascertain their views
  • Keeping in touch with PDA members of staff to help us to understand and learn from your experience so that we can better support the profession and pharmacy students.
  • Joining events and other PDA activities such as annual Conference, Young Members Weekends and our training opportunities.
  • Getting in touch with your Regional Official and asking to attend a Regional Committee meeting as a guest.

The role may develop over time, and once you become a Pre-Reg there are opportunities to stay involved in many different ways such as; becoming a PDA Pre-Reg rep,  getting involved with your Regional Committee, becoming a workplace rep, getting involved in one of the other PDA networks or securing a place on our development programme.

If you are an overseas student with a Tier 4 visa you are able to apply due to the voluntary nature of the role. However for further information and guidance please click here.
