Supporting campaigns

The PDA has helped develop and/or support several stand-alone policy initiatives, which will help deliver wider policy objectives to which the PDA is committed to. These campaigns, charters, and similar commitments have the ongoing support of the PDA.

Disability Employment Charter

The Disability Employment Charter proposes a set of vital measures that, if implemented in a concerted manner, would substantially shift the dial on disability employment. The organisation provides the government with a road map for change as it develops the next phases of its National Disability Strategy.

Trade Union Clean Air Network Charter (TUCAN)

The TUCAN Charter calls on the government to:

  • Introduce a new clean air act that protects the right to breathe clean air.
  • Update Health and Safety Laws (such as COSHH).
  • Ensure effective enforcement.
  • Involve the workforce.
  • Protect jobs.
  • Rapidly expand clean and inexpensive public transport systems alongside investment in active transport to increase levels of cycling and walking.

The Covid-19 Saftey Pledge

The Covid-19 Safety Pledge aims to protect workers, service users, and customers from Covid-19. The pledge assesses physical environments and working practices according to Health and Safety law, including Risk Assessments in order to ensure that they are designed to safeguard against the spread of infection. The Covid-19 Safety Pledge also encourages those who sign to abide by best public health advice and ensure that all workers who test positive for Covid-19 are both asked to self-isolate and given adequate support to stay at home.
