Organisational Structure

The National Executive is the policy making body of the union and comprises six directly elected officers, four members (one elected by each regional committee) and one member representing pre-registration graduates and pharmacy students

The National Executive comprises:

– Six directly elected officers

– The General Secretary

– Three Assistant General Secretaries (Strategic, Administration and Membership)

– The Treasurer

– The Communications Officer

– Four members, one elected by each Regional Committee

One each from each of the four regions within the UK:

  • Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • Northern England
  • Southern England
  • Western England & Wales



The Regional Committees each have representatives for:

– Community pharmacists

– Hospital pharmacists

– Locums

– Primary Care and Specialist pharmacists

– One member on the National Executive representing students and pre-registration graduates



Members have the right to bring any topic directly to the notice of the National Executive Committee or through their Membership Groups.

The Pharmacists' Defence Association is an appointed representative in respect of insurance mediation activities only of
The Pharmacy Insurance Agency Limited which is registered in England and Wales under company number 2591975
and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register No 307063)

The PDA Union is recognised by the Certification Officer as an independent trade union.
