PDA Union South East England Regional Committee

Meet the PDA Union members who serve on the South East Regional Committee:

Andrew Jukes (Hospital Pharmacist)

My main area of practice has been in both NHS and Private Hospital Pharmacy. I also have experience in community and prison pharmacy. My main area of interest in pharmacy is risk reduction for patients and staff, via the creation of optimal working environments. I also have an interest in, and believe that team participation, effective communication, training and development underpin the safer working agenda.

An important aspect that I have noticed over the years is that it is important not only to identify issues that colleagues need to improve or challenge, but to have an effective approach to ensure issues get actioned with a clear timeline and accountability. I think with the support of regional colleagues and the wider union that this can be achieved.

BAYO ADEGBITE (LOCUM COMMUNITY PHARMACIST)

I have worked in community pharmacy for almost 30 years across multiples and independent stores. I like networking and helping our members in their working lives and passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Charles Odiase (nec Regional Representative, SOUTH EAST)

I am a Consultant Pharmacist in Primary Care and Diabetes with extensive experience across hospital, community, PMOT, and general practice pharmacy sectors. I am a Centre for Advancing practice portfolio credentialed Advanced Clinical Practitioner, and an active non-medical prescriber with both generalist and specialist expertise.

I am the South East Regional Representative on the NEC. Having achieved my main career goals, my motivation for joining the NEC is simple: to serve pharmacists and ensure transparency in leadership. My experiential and educational expertise in clinical practice, leadership, research, and education has prepared me to contribute meaningfully to the PDA Union. As we navigate an increasingly challenging future as pharmacists, I am committed to ensuring that pharmacists are heard, valued, and empowered to shape the profession we all believe in and love.

Eddie Njenga (Community pharmacist, South East)

I am a pharmacist committed to providing traditionally good healthcare services to our community. I value our pharmacist workforce and enthusiasm thus strive to ensure their working conditions are conducive to providing the best healthcare and social wellbeing support. I have recently expanded my pharmacy skills to hospital outpatients’ services to support our pharmacists within this sector.

Fasi Payman (Hospital Pharmacist)

I am a pharmacist with experience across secondary care and the pharmaceutical industry. I trained in community pharmacy before moving into the NHS, where I worked in several specialist roles and spent a number of years leading the Haematology and Oncology pharmacy team at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. In this role I was responsible for clinical and operational services, workforce development, governance, and the safe delivery of complex medicines and clinical trials.

I currently work as a senior Medical Affairs professional in the pharmaceutical industry, where I support the development and communication of scientific and clinical evidence across the UK/IE and Nordic markets. This role provides me with valuable insight into the regulatory, professional, and organisational challenges pharmacists may face within the industry.

I have been involved with the Pharmacists’ Defence Association for several years and was first elected to the South East Regional Committee five years ago. I am passionate about supporting pharmacists across all sectors and ensuring members’ voices are heard. Through my role on the committee, I aim to help represent colleagues’ concerns, promote professional standards, and contribute to positive change for pharmacists across the region.

Hala Jawad (Community Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber)

I have built a diverse pharmacy career defined by versatility, moving between non-traditional roles, primary care, and community pharmacy. Currently, I serve as an Independent Prescriber based at Gatwick Airport, a role that requires clinical precision and adaptability in a high-pressure environment.

My commitment to the profession is rooted in my long-standing history with the PDA Union, having been a member since graduation. I currently serve as a National PDA Union Representative within the Boots Reps Network, where I work to ensure our voices are heard at a national level.

I am eager to leverage my unique background—combining frontline clinical expertise with active union leadership—to serve as your Regional and Divisional Representative.

My goal is to:

  • Support and represent pharmacist colleagues with empathy and professional insight.
  • Bridge the gap between different sectors of pharmacy practice.
  • Drive positive change through proactive negotiation and steadfast advocacy.

Lourette Latif Philips (Community/locum Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber)

I am an Independent Prescriber and Community and Prison Locum Pharmacist, qualifying in 2005. I have held a variety of managerial roles and played a key role in the Covid-19 vaccination programme, working as both a vaccinator and later as a pharmacy and clinic lead. I have also been a PDA Locum Representative since May 2022.

I am the current 50th president of the National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP). I championed women’s equality and worked to raise awareness of important women’s health issues within the profession.

Through my frontline experience as a locum pharmacist, I understand the challenges of insecure work, inconsistent rates, delayed payments, and limited access to support. I am committed to ensuring that locum pharmacists are fully represented in regional discussions, policies, and negotiations.

I am passionate about equality, inclusion, and fair treatment, with a particular focus on the additional barriers faced by women locums. I aim to strengthen engagement, improve professional standards, and contribute strategically and collaboratively to the work of the Regional Committee.

Mohammed Al-Dargazelli (Hospital pharmacist)

I have built an eclectic experience in the pharmacy world, ranging from community, GP, private hospital, locuming, and now hospital in psychiatry. I have worked as a pharmacist for over a decade and would love to represent a change in how we are perceived.

Nav Bhogal (Community Pharmacist, Boots)

I am a community pharmacist with over 25 years’ experience and a strong commitment to supporting colleagues and advancing the profession. I have developed a broad understanding of the challenges pharmacists face, particularly around workload, professional autonomy, and patient safety, which has driven me to contribute beyond my day-to-day role.

I became involved with the PDA Union, the Boots Reps network and the PDA BAME network to ensure pharmacists have a clear, independent voice and access to meaningful support. I am passionate about advocating for fairness, improving working conditions, and promoting a culture where pharmacists feel valued and empowered to practise safely.

I bring experience from Regional and National Union roles, alongside formal leadership training. I focus on listening to members, representing their concerns, and contributing to constructive, solution-focused discussions.

I am committed to supporting diversity and inclusion and strengthening engagement to build a responsive, supportive network for pharmacists.

Siddiqur Rahman (Primary Care pharmacist)

I am a primary care GP pharmacist rep in the South East region for the PDA Union. I have been a PDA member since pre-reg in 2006 and have worked mainly as a locum pharmacist in community pharmacies for a decade until I made the switch to work in a different sector in general practice since 2016. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong interest in professional advocacy and workplace standards particularly for pharmacist prescribers, which led me to become actively involved in PDA Union and the reps network. I am motivated by a desire to ensure pharmacists have a collective voice, fair working conditions, and access to guidance when facing professional challenges. Being part of the reps network has allowed me to represent colleagues, promote best practice, and contribute to strengthening the profession as a whole.
