Pay discussions with representatives of LloydsPharmacy began in February following the PDA Union submitting a claim for improvements in pay. The overriding objective of the claim submitted was to seek to ensure members’ income increased faster than the increase in prices (inflation).
It was always recognised that these negotiations would be against a backdrop of rising prices and the “cost of living crisis” acknowledged by the Government. The impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has exacerbated this trend of increasing inflation.
Members will be aware that the date on which any pay increase is due is 1 April and may also be aware that other employees, whose pay is not subject to negotiation with their trade union, will have had their increase already.
The PDA Union and company representatives are due to meet again later this month and we are hopeful that we will be in a position to issue a joint statement with the company following this meeting, consult members on a substantive offer from the company and provide a detailed report to members on the negotiations to date.
Paul Moloney, PDA Union National Officer and Lead Negotiator
