At the webinar, PDA Trainee Pharmacist Reps Jay Patel, Shiv Sharma and Bryan Tsui spoke about their experience of sitting the tests last year and answered member questions on what to expect and how to revise for the Oriel Situational Judgement Test (SJT) and numeracy test.
Top tips discussed included:
- For the SJT’s, trust your instincts. You will not be tested on clinical knowledge but on how you behave in a professional setting.
- For the SJT’s, brush up on the competencies of a trainee pharmacist. Remember to answer questions as though you were a trainee during your test.
- Practice your questions on an A4 whiteboard as that is what will be provided during the tests.
Asad Saleem, PDA Rep for Nottingham University, said “It was so helpful to hear from the PDA Trainee reps as the resources they recommended are ones I hadn’t previously been given and were great to aid my revision. The webinar also made me more aware of how to preference to increase my chances of getting the trainee placement that I want.”
Hannah Baker, PDA Student Organising Assistant, said “It was fantastic to see our PDA trainee members share their knowledge and experiences with PDA fourth-year members. The success of the event proved how valuable it can be to be a part of a network of students and trainees who support each other. I look forward to organising more events like this in the future.”
The PDA wishes all fourth year and sandwich year students, good luck with their Oriel tests.
