The Union Learning Fund was established in 1988. The primary aim was to develop the capacity of trade unions and their Union Learning Representatives (ULRs) to work with employers, employees and learning providers to encourage learning in the workplace. The fund currently supports 250,000 workers a year to access learning.
The PDA supports the TUC campaign to save union learning and is asking members to support the official Megaphone petition.
The petition calls on secretary of state for education Gavin Williamson to reverse the decision to cut the fund. To find out more about the petition and show your support please visit this page.
Kate Kensington, Head of PDA Education said:
“Pharmacists understand the need for continuous professional development and lifelong learning is equally important for every member of the team, both for their individual growth and for the quality of the country’s workforce. The loss of the ULF would end decades of positive contribution and not easily be replaced.”
