The Central Arbitration Committee has ruled that PDAU’s application for collective bargaining rights within Boots can proceed to the next stage
The PDAU made an application to the Central Arbitration Committee to allow the Union to represent pharmacists within Boots for the purposes of collective bargaining.
Boots held that the application was inadmissable under the rules and that it had a pre-existing agreement with the Boots Pharmacists Association (BPA)
Following a hearing on 11th December 2012, the committee has today rejected Boots opposition and has allowed the PDAU to progress its application to the next stage
“This means that Boots have failed to halt the progress of our application at a very early stage” said John Murphy the General Secretary “Although there are more stages to go through we have at least demonstrated our resolve to ensure that we give our pharmacist members the best opportunity to be represented with respect to their terms and conditions”
He urged pharmacists to share this information with their colleagues and for pharmacist employees of Boots to consider joining the PDA Union if not already in membership.
Please look out for further announcements and analysis of the decision.
