  The trade union movement represents workers in many professions, sectors, and roles. The movement includes professional sportspeople and the Assistant Director for Education at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), Oshor Williams. Recently, Oshor shared an experience from his playing days as a winger at Stockport County FC, which highlighted why just not being racist is not enough.

  The PDA BAME Committee recently hosted a remarkable event as part of Black History Month. This hour-long virtual gathering, hosted by Sima Hassan, President of the BAME Network covered an array of important topics.

• NAWP Spotlight launches to celebrate World Menopause Day

  Today (Wednesday 18 October) is World Menopause Day, which aims to raise awareness of menopause and the support options available. To celebrate World Menopause Day, the PDA NAWP Network are launching the first NAWP Spotlight, which allows members to share their personal experiences of the issues that matter and how these issues impact them at work.

• PDA launches EDI Network flyers to celebrate inclusion and create inclusive workplaces

  The PDA is celebrating National Inclusion Week by launching new flyers for each of its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Networks. The pharmacy networks work to promote more inclusive working environments. 

• PDA Ability Network invites nominations for upcoming elections

  The PDA Ability Network has grown substantially over the last couple of years and is now running an election for three officers to lead the network.  

• PDA BAME Network to attend 27th Annual STUC Black Workers’ Conference

  The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC)’s 27th Annual Black Workers Conference will take place in Glasgow next month (7-8 October). Scottish-based PDA BAME Network members Urvi Vora and Shabina Wali will be debating and discussing a wide range of issues at the conference on behalf of the PDA.  

• PDA LGBT+ Network returns to Manchester Pride

  The PDA was delighted to return to Manchester Pride again for 2023. Members and supporters of the PDA LGBT+ Network joined in the Pride Parade, which took place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
