• Reflections on a HIV quality improvement project

He also discusses his own experience of delivering a teaching session on HIV to the pharmacy department at his trust. 

• NAWP encourages pharmacist employers to adopt the Safe Spaces scheme

  Today is the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual campaign that calls for an end to violence against women and girls. Spanning across 16 days, the campaign begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. To mark the campaign, the PDA NAWP Network is highlighting Safe Spaces, a scheme that offers people experiencing domestic abuse a safe space to reach out for support.

  October is ADHD awareness month and to mark the month, the PDA Ability Network is providing more information on the condition such as, symptoms, employee rights, and reasonable adjustments.  

• Addressing racial undertones in the language of pharmacy

  Community pharmacist, Chair of the PDA’s Southeast Regional Committee, and co-opted member of the PDA BAME Network, Nav Bhogal addresses the racial undertones in the language used in pharmacy. Nav also provides information on the negative undertones and suggests alternatives in a call for change.

• NAWP encourages pharmacists to take part in Wear it Pink

  Friday 18 October 2024 is Wear it Pink day, which is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. The event, created by the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now, raises money to support breast cancer research. 

• PDA LGBT+ Network attends Manchester Pride 2024

  For the third year in a row, the PDA LGBT+ Network was proud to return and take part in Manchester Pride 2024. The annual Pride parade takes place on August Bank holiday weekend and this year fell on Saturday 24 August. 

• PDA BAME Network launches factsheet to mark Sickle Cell Awareness Month

  To mark Sickle Cell Awareness Month, the PDA BAME Network has published a factsheet to help raise awareness of the disease and help employers understand that pharmacists diagnosed with sickle cell may need time off work for medical appointments and treatment.
