The PDA Union is hearing from employed pharmacists at several multiples who have been instructed by their employers to turn off the NHS COVID-19 test and trace app when at work and worryingly some pharmacists are being told to refuse to ‘self-isolate’ if contacted by track and trace in respect of a colleague who has tested positive. This is also a significant concern for locum members who may be working in these multiples’ pharmacies.

UPDATE: Partial resolution secured for prov-reg pharmacists being blocked from working via NHS Bank

The PDA has already achieved partial progress for provisionally registered pharmacists who were being blocked from working on the NHS bank via NHS professionals and will continue to pursue this issue.

COVID-19 safety measures must be in place in community pharmacy before pausing Test and Trace app says PDA

The PDA is highlighting differences in COVID-19 security in pharmacy practice across the NHS and advising employee and locum pharmacists to only pause their Test and Trace apps in a community pharmacy setting, if a satisfactory COVID-19 risk assessment has been completed and adequate PPE measures are in place for the staff and premises.

Boots pay claim update

The PDA has sent union members at Boots an update on the pharmacists' annual pay negotiations. As also detailed in a joint statement published with the company, the 2020 talks are being referred to ACAS in the hope they can help the employer and employee representatives reach an agreement.
