Cancellation of January JCC meeting with Boots

Statement from the PDA Union network at Boots.

Tue 25th January 2022 PDA Union

Cancellation of January JCC meeting with Boots

When the recognition agreement between the PDA Union and Boots was signed, it was agreed that the trade union representatives within Boots would meet with Company leaders on a quarterly basis.

The JCC (Joint Consultative Committee) is a forum at which both sides are expected to work in a spirit of partnership to look for solutions to concerns of pharmacists within the bargaining unit. The PDA Union network seeks feedback and input from pharmacists throughout the UK to ensure that items which are proposed for discussion are topical and relevant.

In the agreeing of agendas for previous JCC meetings we have been able to come to agreement on agenda topics, although sometimes after protracted discussion.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the union side, an agenda including the priority issues that pharmacists raised could not be agreed on this occasion.

We have therefore decided after much consideration to cancel the January JCC.

The PDA recognise the importance of the JCC and therefore have several constructive ideas on how this situation can be avoided in the future and will be discussing these with the company.

In the meantime, PDA Union network reps are working tirelessly to support members impacted by the company’s pharmacy operating hours reductions.
