“Anne” had worked for an NHS body for 13 years was suspended on allegations of misconduct. After a long investigation, it was clear there was no case to answer, but the employer had already reported Anne to various regulatory bodies including the GPhC. There was a breakdown in the trust and confidence that Anne should have in the employer and the PDA supported Anne with a formal grievance.
Unfortunately, Anne suffered long-term sickness as a result of the situation and was concerned that the employer would begin a capability procedure on the grounds of their health. The grievance was fully upheld and the PDA assisted Anne to negotiate their eventual exit from her employment with a settlement of a five-figure sum.
The whole experience, caused by the employer’s actions, dominated more than two and a half years of Anne’s professional career.
