Earlier this year, the DHSC invited the PDA to join its PPE engagement panel, which was established to gather feedback from stakeholders on their experiences of PPE supplied by DHSC during the Covid-19 pandemic. Learn more. The feedback is being used to advise future developments and improvements to provision.
As the largest pharmacist organisation, certified as independent from employers and with members practising in all parts of the health system across the UK, the PDA is uniquely placed to bring the perspective of frontline pharmacists to the panel, highlighting both the good and the bad of the provision and management of PPE.
Balraj Rai, Policy Officer at the PDA said, “Given that we are still in the midst of the pandemic and pharmacy staff are vulnerable to contracting Covid-19 as they work at the front line, the PDA believes this provision must continue for the foreseeable future.”
To inform the PDA’s consultation response and participation in the panel, members are invited to share any views and experiences of PPE by emailing the policy team at [email protected].
The DHSC PPE consultation is running until 11:45 pm on 31 October 2021. The consultation and instructions on how to respond are available here.
