This is the 13th time CPC is taking place and this year it will be held on 10 and 11 May 2024, at ExCeL London.
The PDA will be delivering two sessions at CPC this year:
Stopping racism at the front line of pharmacy
Strategy & Policy Forum, Saturday 11 May,
PDA members see the impact of racism at the frontline. In this panel event, members of the PDA BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) Network will discuss key trends in racism in pharmacy in relation to available data such as the NHS Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES). They will then speak about how and why employers need to challenge and address racism wherever it is present and commit to having anti-racist workplaces. Attendees will learn how resources such as the PDA Anti-Racist Pharmacy Toolkit are critical to ensure that racism can be driven out of their working environment.
Confirmed speakers
- Elsy Gomez Campos, Immediate Past President of the PDA BAME Network
- Hala Jawad, BAME Network member
- Fasi Payman, BAME Network member
- Sherifat Muhammad Kamal, BAME Network member
How to improve your T&Cs and protect your interests while working in GP practice
Integrated Care Theatre & Primary Care Theatre, Saturday 11 May, 14:45 – 15:15
The PDA is the only independent trade union exclusively for pharmacists in the UK and its 38,000 members include those practising across all areas of pharmacy. As more pharmacists are employed in GP Practice, the PDA’s activity has correspondingly increased in those environments.
The PDA is now organising members in GP Practice, and across primary care, to work together to understand and exercise their rights at work, ensure safe workplaces for themselves and their patients, tackle inequality, and progress their careers while demanding fair work and reward.
This session will give an insight into how PDA members are acting together to promote the voice of pharmacists in the sector and session attendees will learn how they too can come together as part of the pharmacists’ union to improve their own working environment.
Confirmed speakers
- Paul Day, PDA Director of Membership and Communities
- Una O’Farrell, PDA National Officer
