FIP publishes its annual report for 2023

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has launched its annual report to reflect on the range of the federation's activities across all pharmacy sectors over the past year.

Thu 16th May 2024 The PDA

The PDA joined FIP to ensure that pharmacists in the UK can contribute to, and benefit from, the global conversation about pharmacy. The PDA is therefore sharing the 2023 FIP annual report with members to demonstrate what FIP is doing on their behalf.

In launching the report, Global President of FIP, Paul Sinclair AM said, “Today we are proud to publish our annual report for 2023, with the title ‘One FIP: Evidence of impact around the world’. It presents the wide range of our federation’s activities across all sectors of our profession and the outcomes of our work last year, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 — health and well-being for all — and the global health objective of sustainable universal health coverage.

These activities include taking forward our findings from COVID-19 and working with medicine, nursing, dentistry and physical therapy under the World Health Professions Alliance to provide unique evidence of the extent of the physical and psychological damage done to healthcare professionals during the pandemic. This evidence has impacted on the drafting of the WHO Pandemic Accord, making clear that without a properly supported workforce, there can be no robust response to future pandemics or other health emergencies and no universal health coverage.

Impacts around the world

Collaboration and partnerships have been a key part of progress towards our vision in 2023 and these included the renewal of our agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) concerning the UNITWIN Network on Global Pharmacy Education Development. This was closely followed by the opening of a second FIP-UNESCO UNITWIN Centre of Excellence to promote an integrated system of pharmacy research, teaching and training in South-East Asia, supporting our mission of advancing pharmaceutical practice, sciences and education in order to support global health.

Many more examples of our impacts as One FIP are to be found in this annual report. I thank all those who contributed to our work in 2023, enabling achievements around the world, and I look forward to further collaborations. I also thank you for choosing to be a member of this federation, supporting our vision and mission. This annual report can be accessed here, and I hope that it makes you feel proud to be part of the global pharmacy family that is FIP.

Integrity, passion, performance

We will continue to support our members and the wider profession through advocacy, engagement and resources so that they can be the best health professionals that they can be, they love what they do, and they continue to make positive impacts on the health of communities everywhere.

Forward with Pharmacy, Forward with FIP!”

Global President of FIP, Paul Sinclair AM
