KONP supports campaigns to reverse the privatisation and commercialisation of social care and to call for health and social care services to be publicly funded, publicly provided, and accountable provision.
KONP stands for:
- NHS and social care services funded by the public
- Service delivered by staff employed by the public
- Service accountable to the public.
Pharmacists across all areas of practice may be interested in the work of KONP. It is an individual membership organisation with supporters in a network of over 70 local health campaign groups. They have some national affiliates and also many supporting groups such as trade unions and organisations focused on other areas of social justice campaigning. They are predominantly organised across England and have a national office that supports local campaigns and coordinates the Executive Committee’s lobbying efforts.
KONP coordinates campaigns, events, and other activities. Their latest online rally is on the evening of Wednesday 25 May:

Wednesday 25 May from 7 pm – 9 pm
The Health & Care Act has now passed into law. Waiting lists are at a record high, the staffing crisis is deepening, NHS workers still haven’t received the pay rise they deserve, and private companies’ parasitic hold on health care is increasing, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
Now is the time, not to be intimidated, but to stand up and fight back. Campaigners, workers, and patients must come together to remind all why the NHS is worth fighting for, and how to win.
KONP has called for an online rally on Wednesday 25 May at 7 pm.
Speakers include:
- Dr John Puntis, Co-chair of Keep Our NHS Public
- Nurse Holly Johnston, NHS Workers Say No!
- Margaret Greenwood MP
- Dr Sonia Adesara, Keep Our NHS Public Steering Group
- And many more to be announced
