On the morning of Thursday 18th February the PDA raised concerns with Morrisons and their trade representative body, Community Pharmacy Scotland, after pharmacists reported they had been informed their employer had decided to block them from receiving a recognition payment awarded by the Scottish Government for their contribution in 2020 towards tackling the Covid pandemic.

In the afternoon PDA members at Morrisons in Scotland advised the union that the company had communicated that they would not now block the payments after all. While the PDA is pleased that the original decision has eventually been reversed, it remains concerned why company management made the decision in the first place and that it required pharmacists to raise concerns before this stance was changed.
The PDA is currently awaiting confirmation from Community Pharmacy Scotland as to whether any of its other members intend to block the payment to their pharmacists. If any PDA members in Scotland become aware their employer intends to stop them from receiving this payment, they should contact the PDA service centre.
