The PDA joined FIP to benefit UK pharmacists and through participation in FIP activity, PDA members not only get to learn from international colleagues but also have the chance to contribute to the international conversation about pharmacy.
The federation, with its vast global network and ‘One FIP’ approach is in a key position to be able to gather international experts, frontline practitioners, policy experts, educators, and researchers on any given topic relevant to the pharmacy profession. Often, such gatherings are official FIP working groups or advisory groups on an area, such as the working group on patient safety and the FIP Regulators Advisory Group.
Other times, gatherings take the form of FIP round tables or insight boards where experts, stakeholders, and colleagues are brought together to discuss a topic with the aim of expanding knowledge, current attitudes, and practices on that topic.
Round table reports now available
In recent months, FIP has published summaries of its round table discussions. Although the views expressed at these round tables do not represent FIP policy or positions, the summary reports are nonetheless of value in giving key insights into views on a topic. Often, they give high-level country insights and share best practices. They may also help with predictions of future developments in a topic.
FIP uses these insights to consider what further support will be required by colleagues or policies to be developed.
For those wishing to increase their awareness of different views and what some experts have to say on any of the following topics, FIP is pleased to share the below list on its available roundtable reports:
- Iron deficiency anaemia
- Regional challenges and enablers to leveraging pharmacists as vaccinators
- Closing the gender pain gap
- Enabling people-centred personalised care on pain in pharmacy
- Health inclusivity, agency and empowerment: Developing solutions to help pharmacists drive better health outcomes
- Identifying pharmacy-led actions for improving health literacy
- Sustainability in health care
