PDA donate £7,000 to Pharmacist Support

In late 2017, the Pharmacist Defence Association (PDA) announced a huge increase in their support for the charity Pharmacist Support. From 2018, the PDA are donating £1 for each of their members to the charity each year. In addition, PDA are introducing the ability for pharmacists to donate additional funds to the charity when they renew their PDA annual membership.

This week, the first payment under this arrangement was made when Mark Koziol, Chairman of the PDA, presented Pharmacist Support Chief Executive, Diane Leicester-Hallam with a cheque for over £7,000.

Diane Leicester-Hallam said I am delighted to receive this donation on behalf of Pharmacist Support. The charity has worked alongside the PDA for a number of years now to provide support, where relevant, to enquirers who may benefit from their assistance in resolving a work related issue. The financial support the PDA are now providing will allow us to help more pharmacists, students and trainees facing challenging times whether they are PDA members or not.”

Mark Koziol added: “The PDA is about pharmacists helping pharmacists and so this is a very natural way that we can do even more to help people in their time of need. We hope that what we are doing encourages other organisation to also support Diane and her colleagues with their fantastic work.”

Mark Koziol concluded: “Under this arrangement, the PDA will even donate £1 for every student member, even though they get their membership for FREE. As with working members, we want them to join the PDA so that they can call on us if they need our help, as we can only help our members. Unfortunately, some individuals may not appreciate the potential situations in which they may want us to assist them, until it’s too late, so we hope this donation may be an extra incentive for pharmacists and pharmacy students to sign up.”
