The number of PDA reps in hospitals has significantly grown in the last twelve months, with reps joining from hospital trusts across the UK.
Newer reps met with longstanding reps and learned how to connect with members, how reps have organised to secure local recognition for pharmacists and how the PDA can work together with other unions to achieve improvements in working conditions for members in the NHS.
Liz Larkin, PDA Organiser for the NHS, said: “This was a great opportunity for our hospital reps to meet each other and support each other in the role. PDA hospital reps are the face of the PDA in hospitals and their work is vital to ensure that the voice of pharmacists is heard and change can be achieved to improve the working lives of pharmacists.”
Sophia Farooq, PDA rep in a hospital trust in the North West said, “The hospital reps’ meeting reminded me that we all face similar problems and I felt less alone and more positive afterwards. The PDA is actively asking what our issues are which makes me hopeful these can be managed better!”
