Here Balraj discussed the effect that changes to prescription charges could have on patients and how this could impact on a patients’ health. Balraj explained that if the criteria for free prescriptions is narrowed, many patients will have to make the hard choice of deciding which of their prescriptions are most important, and only purchasing those, as they may not be able to afford to pay for all of their prescriptions.
Balraj also explained that pharmacists are worried that they will be seen as revenue takers, rather than healthcare professionals working to help patients, if this change is implemented.
