The PDA has Reps Networks in Boots and LloydsPharmacy as well as in GP Federations in Northern Ireland. There are also active reps in other areas such as hospitals, CCGs, and PCNs, as well as locum reps working across different locations, and trainee reps on various placements. The networking event was a chance for PDA reps to share their experiences and learn from one another.
Anjlee Shah, a member of the PDA Reps Network in LloydsPharmacy said, “I found the networking event really useful. It was great to listen to fellow reps, regional committee members, and the wider PDA Union family. It was an excellent opportunity to share experiences and thoughts and to take time out to reflect. Thank you to the PDA for organising the event, it was great to virtually meet those who attended. I’m looking forward to further networking sessions throughout the year and to catching up with more fellow union members.”
Farzana Haq, GP practice pharmacist rep said, “I am new to being involved in the PDA, but straightaway I received training via an online course which was comprehensive and easy to complete. It was really nice meeting up with the rest of the reps during the networking session and meeting PDA staff. Everyone was so supportive, it was fantastic meeting up with peers who are as passionate as I am about doing our bit for improving working conditions in pharmacy. I loved the diversity of our group too. I definitely think it’s worthwhile being part of the PDA Reps Network.”
Samuel Opoku, community pharmacist rep said, “I was very lucky to join the event and share ideas with my fellow reps. It was really nice to hear from my colleagues and to know how they are organising events at their various pharmacy employers. We heard very inspirational stories from members that emphasised the need to have PDA reps who can present the needs of pharmacists. I urge my fellow pharmacists to join the PDA and to make PDA reps a necessity in every pharmacy organisation. The PDA is there for the interest of pharmacists: pharmacists need a voice, and only a union can deliver that!”
PDA reps are vital to the work of the union. Those who are interested in getting involved and making a difference in the workplace, with employers, and in the pharmacy sector are encouraged to get in touch with the PDA today.
