Claire Ward, the PDA’s Director of Public Affairs, has won the election to chair the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) and serve as the East Midlands Mayor. This new, directly elected, regional mayor role encompasses Nottinghamshire, Nottingham, Derbyshire, and Derby.
In the election, held on Thursday 2 May, Claire received more than 180,000 votes, which was over 40% of all votes cast. The result was announced on Friday 3 May and the PDA wishes Claire all the best with this new role.
