The PDA and Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education have agreed to hold a meeting to which other key pharmacy organisations will be invited to discuss the pharmacist apprenticeship proposal.
After the PDA highlighted a consultation on a pharmacist apprenticeship proposal last week, more than 6,000 pharmacists responded to the organisation’s call to action and this topic has been debated widely across the profession.
Paul Day, Director of the PDA said: “The Institute approached the PDA and we have agreed to convene a meeting of stakeholder pharmacy organisations to meet with the Institute and determine what needs to be done.
We recognise the strength of feeling in the profession about this issue and will be doing all we can to resolve the concerns expressed and find a way forward that is right for the profession and patients”
The meeting with representatives invited from each of the key stakeholders will be held as soon as possible after Easter.
