The PDA is pleased to sponsor and support this year’s campaign as part of its ongoing partnership with Pharmacist Support.

About the ACTNow wellbeing campaign

Pharmacist Support is a charity dedicated to championing the wellbeing of those studying and working in pharmacy. We run three ACTNow wellbeing campaigns annually which support students, trainees and pharmacists at key points throughout the year.

ACTNow encourages individuals and teams to:

  • Allow time for wellbeing
  • Consider the needs of others
  • Take action.
  • Now! You can start improving your health and wellbeing by signing up to the campaign today.

About the Trainee ACTNow campaign

The trainee year can be one of the most challenging stages of a pharmacy career. Balancing study, training responsibilities, workplace expectations and preparation for the assessment can have an impact on mental health and wellbeing. Trainee ACTNow is a wellbeing campaign from Pharmacist Support created specifically for trainee pharmacists. The campaign provides practical support, resources and guidance to help trainees prioritise their wellbeing while managing the pressures of training, workplace responsibilities and preparing for the registration assessment.

Kicking off on Tuesday 25th August – Thursday 27th August, the campaign focuses on three themes:

  1. Understanding the training year
  2. Financial and budgeting support
  3. Workplace relationships.

This includes tips and insights from newly qualified pharmacists, workshops and videos to help trainees prepare for life in the pharmacy, a pack to help them manage the transition from being a trainee to being a pharmacist, and lots more wellbeing and mental health resources, guidance and support. To benefit from all of this, and long-term support, trainees will need to sign up to our e-newsletter.

More about Pharmacist Support

Pharmacist Support is an independent charity providing a wide variety of free and confidential support services to those working and studying in pharmacy. We’re proud to be able to support people from such a caring profession and each year we provide thousands of acts of support. Our mission is for no one in our pharmacy family to face challenging times without us by their side.

What is wellbeing?

Wellbeing is the state of having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and the ability to manage stress. It’s important to realise that wellbeing is a much deeper concept than moment-to-moment happiness, and we must invest in it if we want to have sustained happiness, control of our emotions, higher productivity, and good physical health.

PDA’s ongoing work with Pharmacist Support

Each year, the PDA donates £1 per member to Pharmacist Support. Since 2017, the PDA has committed to making this contribution on an ongoing basis to support the work of the charity. These donations now exceed £300k.

As well as supporting the charity financially, the PDA’s partnership with Pharmacist Support has included mental wellbeing workshops for pharmacy students that highlight practical tips on how to manage stress during the exam period, and how pharmacists can manage workplace stress.
