The online workshop was run by PDA’s charity partner, Pharmacist Support. It taught members about stress, including what happens to the body and mind when people become stressed. It also explored the neuroscience behind these changes.
During the event, there was an opportunity for attendees to reflect on their own self-care practices, learn from each other, and practice techniques that help manage the physical and psychological reactions that everyone has to stress.
PDA member, Clarissa, who attended the event said, “This is my first training session with the PDA and will definitely not be my last. It was well coordinated, interactive, and will certainly add value to my wellbeing.”
Katie Bloomfield, another member in attendance said, “The event was very useful as it allowed me to learn ways to promote relaxation within the body and the mind.”
A third member said, “Thank you, a very useful session to develop skills and be reminded of good practice to protect our mental health.”
The event also reminded members that they can turn to the PDA for support in addressing work-related stress and should always raise any issues they have rather than suffer in silence.
Members are encouraged to contact the PDA Member Support Centre, speak to their workplace rep, or access the PDA’s It’s Time to Address Stress factsheet if they are suffering from stress.
Pharmacists who are concerned about their stress levels and need support can also visit the Pharmacist Support website for more information, advice and guidance.
