SOS NHS Conference 2022: End the NHS Crisis

After a successful day of action in February of this year, multiple campaign groups and trade unions are coming together again to protest for a health and care service that’s fit for everyone.

Sat 17th September 2022 The PDA

The PDA is encouraging members to have their voices heard at the SOS NHS Conference 2022: End the NHS Crisis, which is being held on Saturday 12 November, from 10 am to 5 pm.

The event, which is organised and supported by Keep Our NHS Public, Health Campaigns Together, NHS Workers Say No, We Own It, several trade unions, and many other campaigns, will be hybrid, meaning that participants can either attend in person at the London Irish Centre in Camden Square, London, or can register for the online event, held via Zoom. Tickets cost between £0-£25.

The organisers believe the NHS is failing, not because of inherent flaws, but because the government wants it to fail. Therefore, the event aims to bring together all NHS supporters and create an actionable vision to support the NHS. The demands of the conference are:

  • Emergency funding to save a struggling NHS.
  • Guarantee free healthcare for future generations.
  • Pay staff properly – without fair pay, staffing shortages will cost lives.

Confirmed speakers for the conference currently include:

  • Holly Johnston – Nurse and activist
  • Dr Tony O’Sullivan – Co-chair of Keep Our NHS Public
  • Ian Hodson – President of BFAWU
  • Dr Sonia Adesara – NHS doctor and member of Keep Our NHS Public
  • Mike Forster – Chair of Health Campaigns Together
  • Alia Butt – NHS psychologist & Chair of NHS Staff Voices
  • Helen O’Connor – GMB organiser and NHS activist
  • Michael Mansfield QC – Chair of People’s Covid Inquiry and human rights lawyer
  • Dr Andrew Meyerson – A&E doctor
  • Kate Osborne MP – Labour party MP
  • Holly Turner – Nurse and co-founder of NHS Workers Say No
  • Unite the Union speaker to be confirmed
  • UNISON speaker to be confirmed
