Supporting members to have conversations about Covid-19 vaccinations

As part of the #GetVaccinated campaign, a new PDA factsheet has been released for pharmacists to help with questions from the public about the Covid-19 vaccination.

The PDA is supporting the NHS campaign to dispel Covid-19 vaccine myths and to tackle the hesitancy of those in the BAME communities to get vaccinated.

The factsheet provides answers to the most common concerns or myths about the approved vaccines, such as safety, side effects, ingredients, and efficacy, and links to sources of further information.

At the launch of the PDA #GetVaccinated campaign, Sherifat Muhammad Kamal, Vice President of the PDA BAME Network, said: “Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy and the impact on its uptake by the BAME community is of great concern. As pharmacists, we can all help inform and educate our patients as to why they should get vaccinated.”

Jasraj Matharu, PDA Executive Member said: “Pharmacists have conversations with patients and the public every day about their health and wellbeing, which presents a great opportunity to discuss the importance of them getting the Covid-19 vaccination to protect themselves, their families, and their communities. This new resource has been put together to support those discussions and provide information which may help to alleviate concerns.”

Pharmacists across the UK that have had the vaccine are also encouraging others to stay safe by getting vaccinated too.
