World Mental Health Day offers the perfect opportunity to shine a light on what more needs to be done to help those facing mental health issues and what care needs to be provided. The PDA wants to also take this opportunity to signpost members to some of the places that offer help and support.
It has been over 18 months since the start of the Covid-19 global pandemic, which has had a major impact on many people’s mental health. Some groups, including frontline healthcare professionals, students, the elderly, people living alone, and those with pre-existing mental health conditions, have been particularly affected. Many mental health services have been disrupted, causing those most in need of help, to go without.
We understand that many pharmacists may have felt a decline in their own mental health over this period.
The PDA would urge anyone who feels that they need support to contact one of the many organisations that can help. A full list of the range of charities that offer support, including specific help for parents, carers, those experiencing domestic violence or addiction problems, can be found here Get help from a mental health charity helpline.
ACTNow wellbeing campaign
The PDA would also encourage members to sign up to Pharmacist Support’s ACTNow campaign that is running up until the 29 of October. Members will receive exclusive and dedicated wellbeing and mental health guidance and resources to use individually and with the whole team.
