PDA Chairman Mark Koziol, was joined by panel chair Parmjit Dhanda (Chair of the Board at Allied Health Professions Federation) and speakers; Luciana Berger MP, Dr Paul Williams MP and Denis Campbell (Heath Policy Editor for the Guardian and Observer).
The lunchtime panel event, run in association with Progress, was titled ‘Wider than medicine: where next for the NHS’, and was named after ‘Wider than Medicines’, the PDA’s long-term strategy for the pharmacy sector. The strategy outlines the steps needed to create an intelligent system that focuses on joined-up patient care.
A key theme spoken about by all panellists was the need to focus on prevention, as it is often far easier and cheaper to treat the symptoms of the disease, rather than the disease itself.
