The following joint statement has been issued by LloydsPharmacy and the PDA Union:

Joint Statement from LloydsPharmacy & PDA Union

5 February 2021

Further to our joint statement which we published on 23 December 2020, Lloyds Pharmacy and the PDA Union have concluded talks on trade union recognition for pharmacists. Together, we are pleased to announce that we have concluded negotiations and signed a voluntary recognition agreement.

Therefore, there will be no need for a statutory ballot and the two parties now look forward to working positively together in the mutual interests of both our pharmacists and the business.

Under the agreement, some PDA members at Lloyds Pharmacy will be provided with “facilities time” aside from their normal pharmacist duties. This means they can be trained and, with support from the PDA centre, act as union representatives and negotiators for their colleagues.

A Pharmacist Joint Consultation Committee (PJCC) will be established through which the network of PDA Union representatives will meet with senior management representatives for collective consultation and information sharing about matters impacting pharmacist colleagues.

A separate Pharmacist Joint Negotiating Committee (PJNC) will also be established as the forum for annual pay negotiations. Though the agreement takes immediate effect, both parties have agreed that due to the timing of the annual pay cycle, the next pay negotiations will commence in time for the 2022 pay review.

Both the company and union are committed to working together effectively and building a relationship which improves employee relations at Lloyds Pharmacy.

Further details, including how PDA members will be supported to become Union representatives will follow in due course.
