Yvonne takes on the President role from 1 September 2026 following a period of active involvement within NAWP, having served as a co-opted committee member since February 2024. She has also been actively involved across the PDA, first as a PDA Trainee Rep and later as a PDA Workplace Representative, including serving on the Joint Negotiating Consultative Committee at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she works as a Rotational Pharmacist. In 2024, she was elected Honorary Secretary of the PDA BAME Network and, as her term draws to a close, she is looking forward to dedicating more time and energy to her role as NAWP President.
Throughout her involvement with NAWP, Yvonne has been a passionate advocate for women pharmacists, helping to organise the 2025 International Women’s Day event and co-chairing a panel discussion. Her article, Beyond the bench: why early-career women pharmacists must show up in advocacy and community spaces, called on pharmacists to embrace advocacy and leadership opportunities. Taking her own advice, she has now stepped into the NAWP President role, bringing that commitment to the forefront of her leadership.
Yvonne will be the 51st President of NAWP since the organisation was originally founded in 1905, and the fourth since NAWP became part of the PDA.
She said, “I feel especially privileged to be the incoming President of NAWP. My journey with the PDA has grown from starting out as a pharmacist trainee representative, knowing that I wanted to make a difference but still finding my voice, to becoming actively involved in advocacy, representation and the work of NAWP.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to learn from incredible women, work alongside past and present leaders, and contribute to conversations and initiatives that help move the network forward.
For me, becoming President is therefore more than taking on a new title; it feels like an opportunity to give back to a network that has played an important part in my own growth. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that women at every stage of their pharmacy careers feel represented, supported, and encouraged to step forward, especially those who may not initially see themselves in leadership or advocacy spaces.
As I step into this role, I feel a sense of responsibility, but also excitement about what we can achieve together. I hope to build on NAWP’s incredible legacy, strengthen connections among our members, and continue ensuring that women’s voices are heard across our profession. It is genuinely an honour to be trusted with the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of NAWP.”
Yvonne will be joined by Ayisat Bolanle Gbajabiamila as Vice President. Ayisat is a locum pharmacist with almost 20 years’ experience across community pharmacy, primary care, clinical practice, and pharmacy leadership. Alongside her pharmacy career, she has been an active advocate for women’s leadership, equality, wellbeing and professional development, being Deputy Woman Leader for her country’s political group in the UK chapter as well as previously being the Vice President for a community Islamic group in the UK. Her commitment to healthcare, mentorship and advocacy has been recognised through several national and international awards.
Ayisat said, “Being elected Vice President of the PDA NAWP Network is not merely a position I have been entrusted with; it is a profound honour and a responsibility I accept with humility, gratitude, and purpose. I am deeply grateful for the confidence placed in me, and I see this opportunity as a call to serve, empower, and amplify the voices of women pharmacists. I believe that when women support women, we create stronger professionals, stronger communities, and a stronger future for pharmacy. This is more than an appointment; it is a privilege to serve, a responsibility to lead, and an opportunity to inspire the next generation. Together, we will rise, lead, and make a lasting difference.”
Wye Bing Chan, a Senior Clinical Pharmacist and Independent Prescriber, was re-elected and will continue to support NAWP as Honorary Secretary, a role she has held since 2022. Throughout her time on the committee, she has helped shape NAWP’s work and has remained committed to ensuring members’ voices are heard and represented.
Wye Bing said, “Thank you for the honour of serving as your Honorary Secretary again. I’m looking forward to working with our committee in championing NAWP over the next two years.”
The newly elected committee will work alongside Lourette Latif Philips as Immediate Past President and several co-opted committee members. The PDA thank Lourette for her leadership of the Association over the last two years. The new team will continue NAWP’s work to support women pharmacists at every stage of their careers, promote equality and inclusion within the profession, and create opportunities for networking, leadership development, and professional growth.
