Mark Koziol, who was already a member of the EPhEU Executive Committee, will undertake this role for the next three years in addition to his responsibilities as PDA Chairman.
EPhEU was founded in 2012, and connects representative organisations across Europe and represents professional, strategic, legal, socio-political, and cultural interests of employed pharmacists in Europe. EPhEU is also an observer member of FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation).
The association includes member organisations from Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Poland and the UK (the PDA).
The 10th annual congress was held in hybrid form with some delegations meeting in person in Vienna while others, including the UK delegation, joined virtually.
Mark Koziol, PDA Chairman, and EPhEU Secretary General said, “Sharing our hopes and ambitions for employed and locum pharmacist practitioners with colleagues across the continent and listening to the various solutions that they have employed in their countries is an extraordinarily powerful activity for PDA to engage in. For example, in Poland, the government has agreed that the Covid vaccination fee is split 50/50 between the owners of pharmacies and the pharmacists delivering the vaccines. Such solutions are entirely viable and successfully seen elsewhere, and we are determined to see the individual pharmacist agenda move forward here in the UK.”
Mark added, “It is a great honour that colleagues from the other European countries have chosen the representative from the UK as their Secretary General.”
