The concerns about working environments being expressed by hospital pharmacists and the number of cases handled by the PDA show that deficits in environmental conditions related to hospital pharmacy practice are increasingly putting frontline hospital pharmacists into difficult situations, often requiring them to work in sub-optimal conditions.
In an initiative led by hospital pharmacists from PDA Union committees and supported by frontline practitioner hospital pharmacists, the PDA has published the Safer Hospital Pharmacies Charter.
This charter was distributed to all UK hospitals and hospital-based PDA members with the February 2020 edition of Insight magazine. Like the PDA Safer Pharmacies Charter, this hospital initiative will be an important feature of PDA’s ongoing safety campaign.
