The PDA is affiliated with the GFTU and welcomes this announcement which means that PDA members will now be able to receive WEA benefits from this mutual membership including discounted course programmes, networking opportunities and weekly lectures and newsletters.
This significant initiative aims to bring the strength of trade unions and community organisations together to build communities, skills, and collective voice. The WEA will bring its expertise as a charity provider of adult education, deeply embedded in local communities, to strengthen GFTU’s existing support and training for local union representatives – empowering a strong adult education voice.
Emma Tinley, Education Programme Manager at the PDA, said “This is an exciting initiative between organisations that are passionate about education and giving adults a voice through developing skills and confidence. As the PDA is affiliated to the GFTU, our members can benefit from discounted courses and other resources provided by the WEA.”
The PDA Union is affiliated with several wider groups because just as individuals achieve more by joining together as a trade union, unions can achieve more by working together.
