The PDA know that pharmacists are key workers and that they are making a critical contribution in the battle against COVID-19. However, while that is recognised by some, there are unfortunately still reports of some schools and childcare, supermarkets and even some authorities not being clear about the key role pharmacists perform and challenging pharmacists’ status.
Pharmacists should be assured that the PDA is raising this issue with the relevant authorities and already had some success in encouraging communications supporting the profession in some parts of the UK. The PDA will continue to take that action and in the meantime, has produced an online identification card which PDA members can use as appropriate to explain their status.
How Pharmacists can access their personalised ID card:
- Sign into your PDA membership via this website
- Go to http://www.the-pda.org/id
The link will open a personalised card confirming your role. The card includes the name of your regulator and your registration number. You may want to save the card on your phone or mobile device so you have it to hand if you need to produce it. You may also want to print it to keep with you in hard copy,
