No patient data was included, but the PDA understands the records included personal and sensitive data in up to 24,000 lines of information about individuals, and that this principally involved locum pharmacists.
Paul Day, PDA Director said “We have been advised by Well that they are taking this incident very seriously and they have already reported it to the Information Commissioner’s Office and will be contacting all those involved. It’s right that a full investigation is underway and that steps are being taken to prevent repetition.”
However, that may not be the end of it for those people whose data has been disclosed. Any PDA Union member with specific issues relating to the data breach, or indeed with concerns about what data has been recorded about them, should contact our advisory team (enquiries@the-pda.org).”
The PDA are advising anyone who receives this email from Well not to open the attachment and to permanently delete the spreadsheet from their computer and any other devices. Well Pharmacy can also be contacted about this incident here: raisingconcerns@well.co.uk and individuals can email with their name and contact phone number so that Well can respond.
