Following the statements by some senior government ministers at their party conference in October and the subsequent decision to reverse the commitment on banning conversion therapy, the PDA’s LGBT+ Network wholly condemns transphobic rhetoric, including comments relating to wards in hospital trusts across the UK.
The PDA is celebrating National Inclusion Week by launching new flyers for each of its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Networks. The pharmacy networks work to promote more inclusive working environments.
The PDA was delighted to return to Manchester Pride again for 2023. Members and supporters of the PDA LGBT+ Network joined in the Pride Parade, which took place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
In June, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) published a report titled ‘Being LGBT+ at Work: LGBT+ Workplace Experiences 2023’. The findings were based on qualitative research which aimed to uncover how much incorporating legal protections for LGBT+ workers has led to positive and inclusive workplace experiences.
The STUC’s LGBT+ Workers Conference took place on 27 to 28 May following new data that showed that the UK has fallen in LGBT+ rankings. Members of the PDA’s LGBT+ Network were in attendance and the PDA supported a motion calling for more inclusive care for LGBT+ patients.
This month's June update coincides with Pride Month which is celebrated as a way of raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBT+ community along with promoting acceptance and equality.
